Radius of Curvature Calculator (Chord, Bow, Arrow)

Use this handy online calculator to determine the radius of curvature of an arch by entering known data such as chord, arrow, bow, or radius. The module allows for various calculation methods with linear interposition approximation, ideal for technical, engineering, and design applications. Quickly obtain results such as angle, arc length, or arrow height, directly in millimeters.

How the radius of curvature calculation works
Our online calculator allows you to quickly obtain the radius of curvature by entering some basic geometric parameters:

  • Chord (c): linear distance between two extreme points of the curve.
  • Arrow Height (f): distance Perpendicular from the midpoint of the chord to the highest point of the curve.
  • Arc (a): Actual length of the curve, measured along its surface.
  • Radius (r): Distance from the center of the curve to its edge, calculated from the entered parameters.

The calculation is based on a simplification with an average error of 0.5%, with maximum errors of up to 3.2%. The results are indicative and should always be verified by a qualified technician.

Choose the form based on the data you have
